Historic barn coversion with all modern amenities ideal for couples.
Trethellan Lodge started life as a storage barn to East Trethellan Farm. We have found no reliable records to confirm construction date, but we do know the farmhouse dates back to the 17th Century. In the late 20th Century, the barn was used as a dog boarding kennels. The previous owners converted the barn into a residential property around 10 years ago.
You will enter the property into the open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen, complete with oak flooring, vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. The lounge area has comfortable seating for two and a TV with Freeview and DVD. The kitchen is equipped with a gas cooker, electric oven, microwave, separate under-counter fridge and freezer, and a dishwasher. The dining table comfortably seats 2 and we can provide a highchair for little ones on request.
To the front of the property is a small enclosed garden with outdoor eating area. We can provide a charcoal barbeque if you’d like to spend time relaxing in the garden. The front garden overlooks one of our fields where you will find either alpacas or ponies (depending on our field rotation) asking you cheekily for vegetable peelings in the mornings and welcoming you home after a day out sightseeing. The back garden includes a rotary drier and easy access to a shared laundry room with washing machine.

It was a really nice stay, even better than we expected. Iain and his family were very friendly and supportive. Especially thanks four lovely little hosts (Iain’s kids) who introduced adorable farm animals to our little one, and he had a lot of fun. Definitely will recommend and revisit if possible!
Wonderful site with all the amenities you can ask for, awesome landscape and beautiful and well equipped Lodge. Iain is very friendly and helpful and his and Julia’s place is anything you could ask for. Really recommended!
My wife and I stayed here for a few days and it was nothing short of magical! Both Iain & Julia went out of their way to help us with our stay, Fantastic warm hosts. On arrival, we found fresh, milk/tea’s and biscuits. The house has everything you need and more. It is very clean and well presented throughout. I’d highly recommend staying at Trethellan Lodge it was a fantastic experience and we hope to return again.
Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for a lovely long weekend. Despite some rain, we had a lovely time and Iain and Julia were absolutely lovely hosts who both came over to say Hi and then respected our privacy. The place itself was cute and cosy, and in great condition when we arrived, which was outside normal check-in hours, but this was not a problem as we had discussed this beforehand. All in all a fantastic little getaway to the country!
My mom and I stayed here as part of our “England Road Trip”, and we absolutely loved it! Nice and quiet, yet a close drive to sightseeing and restaurants. If you’re thinking about staying here while in Cornwall, do it!
Fantastic central place to stay in Cornwall with everything within easy reach. Place was clean tidy and quiet – we loved it and will definitely return!
Fantastic little barn conversion! Very clean and great location. Lovely and friendly hosts. Loved every minute!
The Lodge has everything you need and is so quiet you can’t fail to get a good night’s sleep. The communication and directions are spot on. Many walks around and not far from porthtowan or Portreath for a surf. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be returning.
The Small Print – Check in is anytime after 3PM, but do please ask if you’d like earlier as this is sometimes possible. Check out time is 10AM to enable us to prepare for our next guests. For the comfort of all our guests we ask for no smoking in the grounds as well as in the properties. Pets are welcome, but please contact us if you’d like to bring more than 1 four-legged friend. Dogs can run free in the garden, but please keep them on a lead when on the grounds to avoid scaring our ponies and alpacas. Please use poobags and put them in the dustbin. We may change items of furniture and decorations between your booking and your stay but please rest assured any changes will enhance your stay. Please leave the barn, all furniture, fixtures, fittings and effects in the same state of repair and cleanliness as at the start of your holiday. No parties or events. Please keep any noise outside to a minimum after 10PM to avoid disturbing our other guests.
